Auction Highlights

Bellmans' Picture Department holds four annual specialist sales; two dedicated to Old Masters, British & European Paintings, and two dedicated to Modern British & Contemporary Art. In addition to these specialist sales there are regular monthly Interiors Auctions and Valuations with a varied selection of paintings and prints at a range of prices.

Recent highlights include a newly discovered work by Dod Procter (Girl in a Black Dress c. 1915, see above). This work from a private collection, is truly remarkable as it appears to be the earliest figurative work by the artist to have appeared on the market in the last couple of decades. Our March Old Masters Auction in 2026 saw a well deserved £27,300* for a work by a follower of George Stubbs of a poodle and two spaniels, demonstrating the ever appealing subject of dogs in art. Another notable result from the picture department is for a work by Sir John Lavery Study for ‘The Ratification of the Irish Treaty in the House of Lords, December 1921’ which reached a well deserved price of £45,500*.
